There are also models that can mop and charge themselves which can be essential for those who have pets or children. A majority of the top performers in our tests have excellent obstacle avoidance.
1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO
The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they are very good at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates intelligent maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO to navigate and clean in a manner that maximizes efficiency. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots that we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces, like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It is also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or its battery is low it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's dust bin and continues cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour-and-a-half of continuous use. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. Roomba by iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line, and it comes with all the latest features. robotic vacuum cleaners is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most significant feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for regular maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ is able to better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot via the app or by voice.
In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and vacuum a particular area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and easy with the iRobot Home app. Once connected we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this small Dyson model is an automobile. It's powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

Its advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The cleaning head is specially designed to drive stiff nylon bristles deep into carpets to trap large particles and fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adjusted to the task. It can quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum, and vice versa.
robotic vacuum cleaners comes with a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments as well as the Wand. This is a huge improvement over older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.
The main drawback of the V10 is its short running time. The claims of its marketing that it has up to 60 minutes of running time are a bit misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's still enough time to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home, but not quite long enough to cover every spot (though an additional run-through often will suffice). This model has its own advantages however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeable superior on carpets with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robotic. It could pick up all kinds of debris and sizes in our tests, and frequently went over the same area several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models such as our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and will often run out of power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects because it has fewer components that need regular cleaning It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, incurs lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges quicker.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistance. It is also more durable, has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on floors that are bare and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than the other models we tried and could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.
